In some parts of the world this type of tape is required by law to be applied in certain areas that might pose otherwise dangers of slipping. In other places people simply put them anyway, even if it is not required by law. Having such a non skid tape increases people's safety.

The way this tape works is that one of its sides is covered in grit which provides traction right until it starts to be worn away due to too much use. The tape is sold in several width so you can apply it on all sorts of surfaces, such as stairs, walkways, decks edges, ladder rungs and several other places. You can also find non-skid tape in large sheet called 'grip tape" well loved by the skateboarders among others. It gives a nice wide surface with plenty of traction to ensure added safety to the location.

Usually the black tape is the cheapest of all, while the most expensive of all is the reflective and the glow-in-the-dark types. Depending on your budget you will find the right type of non-skid tape that you can afford and is best for you.

It is useful to have this tape around as the hazzards of slipping and falling is always viable. Just by putting a few strips of the tape in the hazardous locations will help keep everybody walking around that area safe.
